It is a well known fact that males left "intact" and used for breeding will usually develop the unpleasant habit of "spraying" in your home therefore housing outside is usually the only alternative, unless of course you are fortunate enough to own a male that doesn't spray. Even in this scenario you still have the problem of needing to keep the male separate from your females within the home in order to avoid irresponsible matings taking place.
As our cats are important to us and very much loved, we wanted to provide the best outdoor accommodation possible to house our Stud boys..... After much research we decided to go for the "Chalet" design Enclosures which have proven to be a fantastic choice!
We also have a separate Chalet which we keep free for our Queens to enjoy playing in, taking turns in groups, inbetween rearing their litters.
The main Chalet has a divider down the middle which we keep open for optimum space. On either side are living areas and separate bedroom areas for each. Each has a ramp leading to the catflaps that gain access to the bedrooms.
There are more activity centres / scratch posts in here and we've also added branches and shelving at various heights in order to give the cats as much playtime as possible! All are fully secured to the walls.
Bedroom areas are fully fitted out with lighting, heating and webcams. Flooring and other furnishings have been added since some of our photos.
