PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THE INFORMATION BELOW.......

OUR ETHICS.....

We are hobby-breeders purely breeding for the love of the British Shorthair and to enhance their lines as per their breed-standard. We do not breed for profit, income from cat rehomes is used to offset the outgoing expenses required in order to keep our hobby ongoing. Our prefix "Moonchaser" is registered with both the GCCF & TICA whose guidelines we strictly follow. We strive to breed high-quality kittens and have achieved success on the show bench via new owners of our progeny. British Shorthairs make wonderful pets as can be seen by the reviews left on our Guestbook page. We strongly oppose "kitten mills / backyard breeders".

All of our kittens will leave here in good health and with full support and information provided by ourselves to ensure that they have the best start possible in their new homes. We are available to answer any questions you may have, give support or generally have "cat chats" with the new owners, not just in the beginning, but at all times.

Whilst it is very important for the new owner to buy the "right" kitten to join their family, we feel, as the Breeders, that this is a two-way process and is therefore our responsibility, and equally as important, that we also find the "right" new owner for the kitten. We are therefore looking for families, couples or individuals who can provide the correct care, a safe home and as much love, affection and attention as possible for their new little family member. Please do not be offended if we ask you in the first instance to tell us a little about yourselves and the home environment you can provide as this is our standard practise. Please feel free to ask any questions about us that you may also have.

Please note that we are only happy to sell to "indoor-only" homes although access to an outdoor pen / enclosure / secure cat proof garden or teaching your companion to walk on a harness are acceptable ways for him / her to enjoy fresh air safely. We do not like the thought of our kittens potentially being lost, stolen or killed outside on the roads if left to roam the streets and therefore feel that an indoor only home on the basis of the above is the safest option for both the kitten and also for the new owners peace of mind. Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any accidents / illness of the kitten once he / she is in the care of the new Owner(s).

All of our kittens are full pedigree British Shorthairs (occasionally we also have British Longhairs born too) and will be registered with either the GCCF (Governing Council of the Cat Fancy) or TICA (The International Cat Association). We prefer to sell our kittens on a "Non-Active" registration basis (i.e. for pet / show homes only) which means that we do not wish for them to be bred from under any circumstance. In this case we trust that the new owners will undertake to have their kitten neutered / spayed at around 6 mths old.

Occasionally "Active" registration (breeding) to like-minded Breeders MAY be considered depending on the suitability of both the kitten and their potential new owners. In this scenario we would ask that the cat is bred responsibly, only bred after 1 year old and only to another registered Pedigree British Shorthair.

Please enquire in the first instance.

TERMS OF SALE....

* Viewings can be booked once the kittens are around 9 weeks old.

We politely ask that viewings of kittens elsewhere are not undertaken on the same day as visiting our home in order to minimize any possibility of transmitting potential infections / illnesses.

* A kitten will only be classed as "reserved" once a deposit amount of £200 (non-active reg) / £300 (Active reg) has been paid (which includes the bank clearance wait should cheques be given). If the deposit has been paid prior to viewing then we are happy to refund should the new owner change their mind at the time of viewing. However, should both parties (Buyer and Seller) still be happy and agree for the sale to go ahead after viewing the deposit amount will then become NON-refundable unless we ourselves terminate the sale.

* Please note that we reserve the right to refuse or terminate a sale at any time.

* The remaining balance is to be paid in full upon collection of your kitten. Please be aware that if  a cheque is to be issued or bank transfer made these would need to clear prior to the collection date.

IMPORTANT....

Prior to thinking of owning a kitten we highly recommend that you spend time around other cats, maybe owned by family and friends, in order to make sure that you are not allergic and that a cat is the right pet for you. It is heartbreaking (especially for young children) to bond with a new kitten only to have to be  separated at a later date due to an allergy.

Please note that we are only small scale hobby breeders (breeding from within our home environment) and we need to take into account the dynamics, welfare, health and happiness of our existing and already established cat family. We therefore cannot run the risk of any potential illnesses coming back into our home / cattery which means that we can't always offer to take a kitten back should quarantine space be limited (we will however always endeavour to help you whichever alternate way we can).

In view of all the above, we would therefore ask you to spend time around a friend or family members cat prior to deciding to purchase one for yourself to ensure that this is the right pet for you and that no allergies are experienced. This can save any unnecessary stress, worry and heartache in the long run for both the new owner and breeder but most of all limit the amount of unnecessary disruption for the kitten.

PLEASE BE SURE BEFORE YOU COMMIT.

OUR KITTENS.....

* .....will leave here at approx. 13 weeks old, as per Governing Body guidelines. Please be aware that very occasionally we may prefer to hold onto a kitten for a little longer if we feel that this is necessary for the kittens development.

* They will have been vet checked twice and vaccinated at 9 and 12 weeks of age against Cat Flu and Entiritis. We recommend that you arrange vaccination against Feline Leukemia with your Vet once the kitten is a little older.

* Preventative flea and worm treatment will be given prior to the kitten leaving (new owners will need to subsequently continue and provide this treatment throughout the life of the cat and also arrange for yearly booster injections to be undertaken by their vet). New owners are also expected to have their kitten spayed / neutered at approx 6 months old and we recommend microchipping too at the same time.

* Kittens will leave here litter trained although please be aware that toilet "accidents" may occasionally occur whilst the kitten is getting used to their new surroundings.

* The relevant GCCF or TICA Registration / Transfer Papers will be provided.

* Kittens come with a full five generation Pedigree Certificate.

* 4 weeks free Pet Insurance Cover will be provided via Petplan.

INSURANCE

We are members of the PetPlan Breeders Scheme and will have put in place 4 weeks free pet insurance  ready for new owners (all paperwork will be included in your kitten pack).

In the unlikely event that your kitten becomes poorly within the first month then we will of course be on hand to help / give advice.

Should any vets treatment be required within this month we would expect new owners to make use of the Insurance (which is in place exactly for this reason).

WE STRONGLY ADVISE NEW OWNERS TO CONTINUE WITH INSURANCE AFTER THE FIRST MONTHS FREE COVER PERIOD HAS ELAPSED.

Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any injury / illness / vets costs now that the cat / kitten is in the care of his / her new owner(s). Please be responsible and insure your pet.

Please do not hesitate to contact us with any enquiries that you may have.

We will regularly be in contact with you, sending weekly updates and photo's of your kitten growing up whilst you are awaiting the all important collection day!

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO READ OUR GUESTBOOK (see heading section top of page) WHICH INCLUDES TESTIMONIALS FROM NEW OWNERS.....
